Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Seevil (“Seevil”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects when you use the Seevil mobile app and website (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
Seevil is a voice-first language-learning service. This Policy applies to the Seevil app on mobile app stores and to seevil.app. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@seevil.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — your name and email address, provided when you register or when you sign in with a third-party sign-in provider (such as Google). If you register with an email and password, we store your email and a securely hashed password — we never store your password in readable form.
- Voice recordings and practice content — the audio you record and the text you type or speak during lessons and conversations, together with the transcripts and responses generated from them. This is used to power speech recognition, conversation practice, feedback and your learning history.
- Profile and settings — preferences such as your learning language, interface language, and practice settings.
Information collected as you use the Service
- Learning and usage activity — lessons completed, quiz and practice results, progress, streaks, and in-app interactions, used to run the app and improve it.
- Technical and device information — limited information such as your IP address, app version, device type and operating system, and diagnostic information, used to operate the Service, keep it secure, and prevent abuse.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photo library, health data, or advertising identifiers, and the app does not show third-party ads. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details — purchases are handled by the app stores.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Service — including converting your speech to text, generating conversation practice and feedback, and saving your progress.
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To personalise your learning experience and remember what to review.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To communicate with you about the Service, including important notices.
- To understand and improve how the Service performs, using aggregated or de-identified analytics wherever practical.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request); our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain and improve the Service, provided your rights do not override those interests); your consent (where required, for example certain voice processing — which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligation (to comply with the law).
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service on our behalf — for example providers that perform speech-to-text, AI language processing, text-to-speech, cloud hosting and infrastructure. They may process your information only to provide those functions to us, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations, and not for their own purposes.
- App stores and sign-in providers. Payment and subscription processing is handled by the mobile app stores; if you use a third-party sign-in provider, that provider handles your authentication. Their own privacy terms apply to those interactions.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public, or Seevil.
- Business transfers. If Seevil is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will require any successor to honour this Policy.
6. International transfers
We and our providers may process and store information in countries other than your own, including outside the EEA/UK. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required by law.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete your account and associated data (see below). We may retain limited records for a short period where necessary for security, fraud prevention, or to comply with legal obligations — for example server logs are kept for up to 90 days. Backups are overwritten on their normal rotation.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the EEA/UK you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You can exercise most rights directly in the app, or by contacting support@seevil.app. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete account), or by following the steps at seevil.app/delete-account. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, learning data, recordings and conversation history, subject only to the limited retention described in section 7.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately to any incident.
12. AI-generated content
Seevil uses artificial intelligence to power conversations, feedback and parts of its content. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected, and is provided as a learning aid, not as professional, certified, legal, medical, or other advice. Please use your own judgement.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
